And I thought the Gears of War 4 80GB PC file size was something - according to reports, the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition PlayStation 4 file size is 130 GB! The Legacy Edition, of course, also includes Modern Warfare Remastered, and according to the latest news, that file size is 39.18 GB for Xbox One and/or PlayStation 4.

Although Activision previously announced you’re going to need a pretty massive 130GB of free space on your console’s hard drive to install both Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered, the actual download sizes are less than that.

Some of that 130GB requirement obviously includes future patches and DLC, but when it comes to the files you’ll be downloading in time for launch, the total is not actually that big.

As reported by Charlie Intel, for PlayStation 4, the Infinite Warfare download will vary depending on your region, so you’re looking at 44.6GB-53.6GB. For Modern Warfare Remastered, the download is going to be 37.2GB.

As for Xbox One, 52.1GB is what you’ll need for Infinite Warfare, and 45.85GB for Modern Warfare Remastered. Pre-load is available on both platforms now for both games.

There’s currently no word on the PC version pre-load. Judging by Black Ops 3’s launch last year, however, you’re probably looking at a 24 hours head start.

Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered will release on November 4.

Update: Activision has confirmed the 130GB install size for both games with an entry in the Modern Warfare RemasteredFAQ.

'The estimated storage space required for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (Legacy, Digital Deluxe, or Legacy Pro) is a combined 130 GB. This is a high-end estimate, which includes both games, any Day 1 updates, as well as the additional Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered multiplayer maps to be released before Dec. 31, 2016.'

Even if the combined size is a high-end estimate, it's still going to occupy a huge amount of hard disk space.

Original story: A leaked image of the PS4 box for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Legacy Edition has revealed the enormous hard disk space required to install the game along with Modern Warfare Remastered.

The pair of games tally up to 130GB, an incredible sum which for many gamers will occupy more than 25% of their hard disk space. The image made its way on to le internetz via a tweet from charlieINTEL.

As Eurogamer points out, if Modern Warfare Remastered is roughly the same size as the Campaign Early Access version available for download on PS4, then that places it at around 40GB. This means that Infinite Warfare is occupying a colossal 90GB of space on its lonesome.

Sometimes large install sizes simply can't be helped, but if this pattern is to be repeated with other AAA titles, gamers will soon find themselves squeezed for space. In this context it's easy to understand why the 2TB editions of the Xbox One S have proven so popular.
