  • Jup same here, can't install or update any games anymore.
Oculus home keeps claiming the antivirus is blocking it, however I can disable the antivirus, defender, and firewall, everything, but it doesn't help 1 bit..
Got about 400gb of free space left

If a reboot doesn't fix it then I'd say to try reinstalling the software.
  • Try download the Oculus setup again and choosing Repair when you install.

will it mess up any game saves?
  • No, doing a Repair should not affect saved games.

Thanks cyber, for me it worked...
Edit: No sorry scratch that, it didn't work, still getting the same thing, it will download a game completely, and end the download/install like it would normally, but the game goes right back to the bottom of the update list and start all over again, it does this with every single game
I have pretty much everything turned off now, all of the avast shields, the firewall, and defender, still it says the antivirus blocked it
  • I had the same problem saying virus checker was blocking as well after a reinstall and the only way I could solve it was to change the game install folder to a different one
Was oculus before so just used oculusgames instead and was fine after that
  • If you are still having a problem, please post your logs. Also, anti-virus can sometimes still cause issues when disabled (McAfee in particular) and sometimes you will have to uninstall it completely to avoid the conflict. You can also try adding an exception/whitelist for the Oculus app/service in your security programs to see if that helps.

  • Well whitelisting I've also tried before, didn't do a thing either, and I would rather not uninstall my antivirusses unless there was absolutely no other choice anymore..
But I could try changing the install folder, how should I do that?
If i can't get it fixed I'll get the logs
    Thanks for the suggestions btw
  • I did it by uninstalling oculus software then when reinstalling choosing a different folder name from the suggested one then games installed fine
  • Try to uninstall the Oculus app and then reinstall the setup and be sure to pick your game location as somewhere unique (i.e. NOT Program Files). For example E:/OculusGames

    Gigabyte RX Vega 64 x2 | Samsung 960 Evo M.2 500GB | Seagate FireCuda SSHD 2TB | Phanteks ENTHOO EVOLV
  • Hm now it seems I've lost the ability to install new games as well, is there any way for me to preserve my game saves when I reinstall oculus home? It seems like there is no longer any other option unfortunatly for me
  • I have a similar problem, really disappointed that there is this many people having a similar issue, I have raised a ticket with Oculus support but it's soooo slow waiting for each response.... I have never had this much of a frustrating experience installing a damn game. Steam, Origin, GOG, Uplay all work flawlessly. why not Oculus?
  • Hi @scurvykid please read through my comments in this thread and see if any of them help. Thanks.

Well it took me about a day, with many trial and error, but I managed to fix it, the only way to get it done was to first off reallocate the folder with all the games and the manifests folder to another place as backup, then disable any vpn you might be using (apparantly oculus likes blocking your shit or something when you use a vpn), then disable the antivirus, and use the setup tool to uninstall oculus home, go into the the program files folder and remove the oculus folder that is probably still there.
Next reboot the pc, and make sure the antivirus is still disabled, run the setup tool again and reinstall oculus home with the 'Oculus Apps' folder on the D drive(if you use that) .
When it's done, close oculus home, move the games and manifests folders back into the Oculus Apps folder.
Reboot the pc again, re-enable the antivirus and potentially the vpn, go into device manager, then Oculus VR Devices, and then for every Rift Sensor in there right click on it, click Properties, then Power Management, and then untick the box that says the computer is allowed to disable the device to save power. Otherwise you're bound to get device disconnects from the sensors while in use, and sometimes it will even reinstall them for no reason, because windows will treat the sensors like a removable thumbdrive or something..
Press OK, and that should be it, updating and installing games should work fine again.
If the installation of the Oculus home does fail, make sure to go into the C folder and delete the folder that Oculus created to keep the temporary installation files. I had to do that a couple of times myself before realizing rebooting didn't help, and I had to delete that to redownload everything, since in my case being behind a vpn was the culprit
  • My friend is having a lot of trouble with downloading games through the oculus app. Whenever he tries to press the download button it just don't work. he checked the log and there were nothing there pls help.
  • Try running the Oculus installer again and choosing Repair. Also, be sure your game folder is NOT in Program Files, it should be something unique like E:/RiftGames

Oculus -- the Facebook-owned platform that runs on Samsung Gear VR and, of course, Oculus Rift -- is doing the inevitable and getting a lot more social.

New features let you connect your Facebook account with a Gear VR headset to watch 360 videos from your Facebook feed, connect with friends and watch Twitch streams with friends in real time.

If you own a Gear VR headset (or plan to get one gratis with your Galaxy S7 or s7 Edge) then you can start using these new features. Here's how to get started.

Facebook Videos

Right now the Facebook integration is all about video. For that you'll need the Oculus Video app which should have installed itself when you set up the Oculus Gear VR app. When you launch it, you'll be prompted to update it so that these new social features are available.

Once you fire up the app, you'll see a list of Trending and Featured 360-degree videos as the default menu screen. On the left you can check out Twitch streams and Vimeo videos. For the moment, look to your right.

You'll see a prompt asking you to connect your Facebook account. Click that and you'll be told to take your phone out of the Gear headset. A standards permission form pops up and once you've confirmed that, you can clip it back in.

Now you'll get a featured video experience that's tailored to you, based on the people and pages you follow. You'll also get a list of 360 videos that your Facebook friends have shared and the ones you've saved yourself.

This is the just the start of the Facebook features coming your way. In the next few weeks you'll be able to like and share videos directly from the Gear VR interface. But there are a few other social tricks you can try.

Set up an Oculus profile

You should already have an Oculus account if you've been using the Gear VR app. If not, it's a standard email address, password and username setup process.

Follow the prompts to add a picture and a username, as well as select basic privacy settings. These are up to you, but I would always recommend erring on the side of caution -- you can always go back and change them later if you feel like you're too locked down. That's a matter of checking your settings and making some alterations.

Next up, add some friends. You can search via username or real name, depending on the privacy settings of the individual.

Video, trivia and Twitch

So what now? Well there's a few things you can do with a friends list, but you'll need to grab the Oculus Social Beta and Social Trivia Apps. You can find these via your Gear VR, but it's a lot easier to get them on the App before popping your headset on. Search for 'Social' and download both.

Once you've got the Gear VR on, jump into Oculus Social Beta. Set up your avatar and get started. At the moment, Oculus Social lets you join groups of five to watch Twitch streams, Vimeo videos or play trivia.

You can also start your own room using the Create Room button up the top right of the list. A trivia game always takes place on an animated space station, but for Vimeo and Twitch watching, you can set up your shared room to look like a private movie theatre, the moon or a tiny mushroom...kingdom...thing. It's weird.

It's a bit counter-intuitive, but Twitch starts streaming automatically, rather than letting you pick the stream first. You'll need to tap on the screen and then select the icon on the right to get into the menu and choose what you want to watch.

Remember that you'll need headphones and a mic to get both audio and chat functions. It's a great way to have fun with some friends and, for trivia at least, the mic is essential for trash talk.
